Note: from 1895 to 1901 he was a publican, licensee of the "Compasses" in Dedham, Essex; 1902 saw him at The White Hart, Colchester, and from 1906 to at after 1911 he was at the Greyhound, Langham. Fanny was the daughter of William and Susan KIRBY. Cators death was reported by his son George
Cator formed a relationship with Winifred Annie around 19118/19 because he is named as the father of her children, and subsequently married her. Fanny died in 1925 and Winifred and Cator married 26 Oct 1929. Whether he left Fanny or the arrangement was a menage a trois is unknown, although Fanny's death in Colchester suggests that they were living apart. Before he was declared the father, Winifred had a child Winifred W COLLETT registered at Bedford 4th qr 1918. A year after Cator's death she married William KNIGHT widower aged 73 5th Oct 1940. Witnesses to this wedding were George Ernest WATSON and Winnie WATSON.

DEAN
DEATH OF MR. C. WATSON
The death of Mr. Cator Watson, aged eighty-two. occurred at his home at Lower Dean recently. [1st Oct 1939] For a number of years he had been crippled with rheumatism. He was a native of Norfolk and had lived at Pertenhall before coming to Dean. He did much military service and was a lance-corporal in the Essex Imperial Yeomanry during the Boer War. During the Great War he was a lance-corporal in the Royal Defence Corps from 1914 to 1919. Mr Watson leaves a widow and six children.
The funeral was held at the Parish Church on 4th October and was conducted by the Vicar (the Rev. C.P. Russell). The service was choral and the hymns "Rock of Ages" and "Abide with me" were sung. Mrs C.W. Lilley was the organist. The mourners were Mrs Watson (widow), Mr George Watson (son), Winnie and Dick (daughter and son). Jessie Watson (daughter), and Wilfred Deighton (friend). Among those at the church were Mrs Wade (Dean Grange) and Nurse Eaton.
