Dylan Fowler and Gillian Stevens

(This was the programme cancelled because of snow last February)

A compelling musical journey on guitar, viol and traditional Welsh crwth from this well-respected duo who are also two thirds of the trio Taith. Dylan Fowler's music crosses many genres: he is a composer, guitarist and multi-instrumentalist from Wales now achieving worldwide recognition. He plays with powerful and poetic expressiveness while remaining true to his Celtic roots. Gillian Stevens is a composer and expert on the crwth and viol. Their music is described as haunting and delicate.

The BBC online review of their latest album says: "This is an understated gem of a record from very fine players"

She held the post of principal harp with the Orchestra of Welsh National Opera between 1997-2003, with whom she has performed and recorded extensively.

The Mellstock Band - by popular request

The Mellstock Band take their name from the works of Thomas Hardy, who gave this fictional title to the singers and musicians of the parish of Stinsford, where his father and grandfather were prominent in leading the dancing, carolling, merrymaking and church singing, and where the young Thomas Hardy played his fiddle for weddings and parties.
With their authentic instruments and songs they have performed all over England, and taken their music to Europe, Africa and America. They have also appeared in productions for film, television, radio and theatre, most notably in the BBC2s adaptations of Pride and Prejudice and Tess of the d'Urbervilles.
