Note: John emigrated to Virginia America (date unknown). John acquired his first land in 1668 when all residents of Virginia were from England.
On 18 Sep 1668 Thomas Green and Richard Wharton of Rappahannock Co.,each deeded to John Mewes 50 acres of land. On 3 Jun 1679, John Mews conveys to Ignatius White for the term of 99 yeas, a tract of land adjoining on the land of Roger Cloathwork, and containing 100acres. July 1683, George Jones of Rappahannock Co., Gent. conveys to John Mewse, for 6000 lbs tobacco 108 acres of land.
Northern Neck Grant Book No 3, p. 2; per West and Fauntleroy:
"31 Mar 1692 John Muse made entry of 360 acres part in
Rappahannock Co now Richmond Co and part in Westmoreland Co upon a
survey dated 15 Oct 1691, on which survey there is an endorsement
dated 16 Oct 1699 signed by Nathaniel Pope, then Clerk alleging that he (Muse) hath been in possession of the land since the date of the survey and said Muse having assigned over his right in writing to his son John Muse beginning at a certain stumped gum in the main swamp of Rappahannock Creek touching the land of EdwinThacker and John Bowen, decd. This patent John Mewes assigned to his son, John Mewes, Jr., on 7 Jun 1703."
On 5 October 1715 Richmond Co. VA, Miscellaneous Records and Depositions
Book, p. 93 lists a Deposition of John Mews and William Lewis'
referencing John Mews aged eighty two years.

53 Thomas MUSE m Elizabeth STURMAN about 1711Note: Elizabeth was twice a widow. Her first husband was John STEWART, and her second husband was Bryant MURPHY. Elizabeth named Daniel and Nicholas Muse in her will, probated 25 May 1735 in Westmoreland Co., VA, as well as children by former marriages.
On Oct. 30, 1707, Thomas Muse, of West'd Co., and John Muse, Jr., of Richmond Co., Va., were granted 265 acres in West'd Co. On Nov. 10, 1711, Nicholas Muse of West'd Co., received a grant of land of 179 acres in West'd Co. on Holling Branch on Great Rappahannock Creek, between the counties of Richmond and West'd. (Northern Neck Grant Book No. 4, p. 60)
Thomas Muse left a will dated Mar. 12, 1729, proved June 28, 1732 (W. B. 8, p. 532, West'd Co.). On July 26 1718 (V. 6, p. 318, West'd Co.,), John Muse, Jr., leased to Thomas Muse "part of 200 acres of land which I leased of Col. William FitzHugh for my life and my wife, Ann Muse's life, Jan. 17, 1712." On May 26, 1725 (V. 8, p. 118, West'd Co.), Thomas Muse made a deed of gift to sons Thomas and Christopher Muse "the 50 acres now in possession of my oldest son, John Muse, being the same land which I purchased of my brother, John Muse, dec'd July 28, 1718--subj. to the provisions contained in the lease from Col. Wm. FitzHugh, dec'd, to my brother John Muse."
