Joseph Larkman Gunn



Report of the funeral of Mr J L Gunn from the local press

The funeral took place on Friday of Mr Joseph Larkman Gunn who had been a member of the Loyal Stanley Lodge for the past 50 years. He was a past grand (Master) of the Lodge and for the last 15 years had been the senior trustee. The service which was conducted by the Rev. H MacMullen took place at St Peter Mancroft Church and the internment following at the cemetary. The coffin was covered with the Union Jack and on either side walked bemedalled members of the Royal Norfolk Veterans Association in uniform, of which Mr Gunn had for many years been a member. The family representatives included Mr and Mrs W Gunn, the misses D and M Gunn and Mrs Hick.

Representing the Naval and Military Lodge 3078 were Worshipful Bros W L Girling, G B SExton, A E H Lee, P H Colls, C K Cooke, P S Steward, and Bros A B Plunkett, J Laroder, E Rogers, W Barker, H Edmonds: Bro E V Smith represented Perseverance no 213 and Worshipful Bro F Raven the Earl of Leicester no 2237.

M U Oddfellows present were Stanley Lodge, P>Gs T Green, R Turner, E T Fish, F Kemp, W H Cook, and Bros C H Day and R Fairman, Anchor of Hope Lodge, PPGM G Hannant. The Comrades Club was represented by Mr W Barker.

The 1st Volunteer Battalion Royal Norfolk Regiment Veterans Association was represented by Messrs W E Laws, R Andrews, F H Day (hon Treasurer), A Hay (hon Secretary), G Iverson, T Edwards, G Cooper, T Woods, F W Moore, W Phillips, W H Marson, H E Harper, E Freeman, W F Cullington, R A Lincoln, G H Webster, T White, C Hemnall, C E Guest, W J Gunton, P E Miller, J Phillips, Capt W Pleasants (Norfolk Yeomanry), and Messrs J Collins, J J Papps, W A Smith (members of the South African Company). Mrs Moore and Mrs High represented the Conesford Ward Conservative Association.

Unable to attend were Lieut. J J Howard, Mr W F Makin, Mr Allden Owles, Mr E Moore and Mr G W Williamson
