Report of the Funeral of Greenfield Cock 1904

Mr. G.Cock, builder, &c, an old and respected inhabitant, died on 31st August, at the age of 59. He was widely known as a business man, and a Wesleyan local preacher. The funeral on Wednesday in St. Nicholas' grave-yard, was attended by a large and representative gathering.

Previously to the internment, a service in the Wesleyan chapel was conducted by Revs. H.Hartley (Stoke Ferry) and F.W.Hall (Methwold). The late Mr. Cock's favourite hymn "Give me the wings of faith to rise" was sung and at the close the "Dead march" was played, Mrs. W. Addison being the organist. The service at the grave-yard was conducted by the rector.

The mourners comprised the widow, the son, six daughters, Mr.Clements (son-in-law), Messrs. Charles and Arthur Cock (brothers), and their wives, Mrs. George (sister), and her husband and many relatives.

Pryer, Mr. I. Andrews, Mr. F. Rudland, Mr. H. Rudland, Mr. Gotobed, Mr. G. Tuck, Mr. H. Thorpe, Mr. Nosbury, Mr. Brewington, Mr. A. Gathercole, Mr. W. Clarke, Mr. J. Spencer, Mr. J. Hubbard, Miss Walden, Mr. J. Henley, Mr. A. Whitta, Mrs. Walker, Mr. Cowlisham, Mr. Richardson, Mrs. Lambert, Mr. Broadwater, Mr. G. Porter, Mrs. O'Rorke and Mrs.Rush.

The elder children of the Sunday-school, of which Mr. Cock was superintendent, preceded the hearse. The coffin was polished oak with brass furniture. A large number of floral wreaths, &c, were laid upon the grave by relatives and friends.
