In 1851 Jane was at home, and John CRACKNELL was an apprentice carpenter to Field, living in. In 1861 Field and Mary had a servant, Elizabeth JOHNSON b 1794 Feltwell

Note: The 1841 census shows Field as deaf and a farmer of 123 acres employing 3 men: Mary, his sister was housekeeper. He had inherited the copyhold from his father, Field Cock, and was admitted on 20 Oct 1840 by the Manor court in Mildenhall, which you can see here.. When Field died his will provided that his estate should pass to his sister Mary (24a below) and she was admitted to the copyhold tenancy of small parcels of land on 24 Aug 1864 at the Manor Court in Mildenhall of that date. (I have the transfer on the original vellum)

Note: Greenfield seems to have been a man of many parts. In 1861 he is described as an apprentice carpenter, but he became a wheelwright in later years. In 1871 he was a carpenter living in Wilton.In 1879/80 he is listed in a directory as a "steam miller" . In 1881 he appears in the census as a builder and wheelwright employing 4 men and one boy living in Bell Street, Feltwell. In 1891 he was living in Bell Street, Feltwell as a builder and miller and he was described in a directory of 1892 just as a miller. When he died he was described as a builder.He lived in Bell Street, Feltwell, in a house later occupied by Mr Parnell, the village barber. An account of his funeral may be seen here
